"10 Things Not To Do In Your MIT Interview"
This post was adapted from my original post on the subject.
This post is for all of the students that are applying for MIT. Here are ten things not to do during your interview:
- Never go into your interview without a copy of your application even if it is incomplete.
- Never say that you are good with computers and then have difficulty with the printer while trying to print a copy of your application infront of your EC.
- It is also a wise idea not to jam the printer, especially if it is used for printing order reports and other items that are required for the business.
- It is not a good idea to force the computer into a need to reboot.
- Don’t get nervous and temporarily forget the letters MIT.
- Never confuse mit.edu with the nonexistant website, mit.com.
- Don’t bring in a laptop with a nearly dead battery.
- It may not be a good idea to forget the size of your school.
- When you go to leave and only one door functions as an exit, don’t go for the other door(s).
- Don’t forget how to say your EC’s name.
I personally would have liked this list because I did all of these in my interview.

>.< Oh noes, that list truly would have helped me too.
My interviewer was very polite, but he'd been a graduate at MIT and consequently had basically nothing to talk to me about cuz he hadn't done an undergrad there.
I also arrived late cuz the train company changed their times and I didn't know, so I was completely stressed out and tired by the time I turned up.

The only mistake I made was to stare at my interviewer for 10 seconds before responding to any questions.

But yeah, my interviewer was a graduate student too, so apart from the general chit-chat, we stuck to talk about academics. She was pretty nice about the whole thing :)

A nice interviewer she was though the time spent did seem a little short. But then again, she was very good at assessing people and literally had me sorted out within the first few minutes of the interview! :)
But I didn't require a copy of my application...maybe different ECs see things differently.

Bring a copy of your application? Really? I never heard of any school doing that...and I've done one interview at Yale and many of my friends have interviewed. I thought they weren't supposed to see your application?
